China’s Cryptocurrency Rankings | EOS Comes Out on Top

China's Cryptocurrency Rankings

EOS still maintains the top spot in China’s cryptocurrency rankings list. The superpower updated its list last week, proving that EOS is still the favorite. Bitcoin has climbed up three places and now sits in 12th position.

Considering Bitcoin is up 10% to press time and approaching the $9k mark, its a wonder why it hasn’t ranked higher on the list. Well here’s why:

China’s Cryptocurrency Rankings

The rankings list assesses three criteria: technology, application, and innovation.

The top five were as follows: EOS, TRON, ETHEREUM, STEEM, and ONTOLOGY.

Despite the original cryptocurrency Bitcoin being the leading coin by market cap, it only managed to place in 12th. It scored well for creativity but lacked in basic technology.

The rankings are funded by China’s Ministry for Industry and Information Technology and were released by the Center for Information and Industry Development.

Moving forward, the body plans to update the list once every two months instead of monthly.

Eos has held the top spot since June 2018, while Tron has managed to stay in second place since February 2019.

Crypto’s In Green

The entire cryptomarket is experiencing double-digit gains today. China’s cryptocurrency rankings favorite, EOS is up 17.67% and selling for $7.45 per coin.

As stated, Bitcoin is holding firm above $8k—it is currently selling for $8,863 and up 10.87%.

The original cryptocurrency has been on a continued bull run this month. May has seen it pack on whopping gains of 65%.

Will The Gains Continue?

Recently, Bitcoin enthusiast and crypto fund manager, Brian Kelly, spoke to CNBC’s Fast Money and predicted that Bitcoin price will continue to rise. One reason for this is the approaching “halvening” that will see Bitcoin mining rewards cut in half. The halvening won’t happen until 2020, but until then, miners are expected to hoard BTC and this increasing demand will see Bitcoin price rise as the supply becomes lessened.

Of course, Bitcoin remains as volatile as ever. Only one day after the coin passed the $8k mark, it plunged 10% back to $7,200 USD. While it has indeed paired those losses once again, never become too comfortable in this market. Another major dip is easily around the corner, especially if Bitcoin has been on an extended bull run.

Weiss Cryptocurrency Ratings Places XRP, EOS, BTC, and BNB on Top

by
Weiss Cryptocurrency Ratings

Weiss Cryptocurrency Ratings

Weiss Cryptocurrency Ratings released its March 2019 “Weiss Cryptocurrency Outlook” report, with Ripple (XRP), EOS, Bitcoin (BTC), and Binance Coin (BNB) receiving the top four spots on the list of 122 cryptocurrencies. Weiss Ratings is the world’s only financial rating agency that provides grades on cryptocurrencies.

The report, which is called “Dark Shadows with a Bright Future,” examines the cryptocurrencies available on the market using two factors—the tech/adoption grade for long-term investors and the risk/reward grade based on short-term factors.

Of the 122 cryptocurrencies examined in the report, XRP, EOS, Bitcoin, and Binance Coin were given an overall B- rating, while none received an A rating, which is considered excellent.

Remarkable Growth in the Cryptocurrency Space

Authors Martin Weiss and chief cryptocurrency analyst, Juan Villaverde, start the report by noting that despite a sharp decline in the price of cryptocurrencies, “the industry’s network capacity and security have improved dramatically and underlying technology has evolved with new, more efficient ways to create digital assets.”

What’s more, leading cryptocurrencies are seeing three times more volume in user (on-chain) transactions than they did in early 2018. These improved fundamentals and lower prices offer new opportunities for investors, although this is dependent on whether or not they can “afford the risk, avoid the worst and invest in the best.”

Cryptocurrency Market Still Risky

Despite improvements to cryptocurrency fundamentals, the Weiss Cryptocurrency Ratings report authors still advise investors who cannot afford to lose money to be wary in the near term.

“Investors who cannot afford to lose money, the recent market declines and doldrums imply high risk and uncertain rewards. Crypto market liquidity is very thin. Trading comes in spurts. Relatively small infusions of new buying cause sudden price rallies. Equally small bouts of selling cause unexpected market crashes,” said the report.

Cryptocurrency Trends to Watch

In the report, Weiss and Villaverde identified trends in the cryptocurrency space that investors should keep in mind. These trends include changes to the way cryptocurrencies are secured and some cryptocurrencies moving away from blockchain entirely, as well as killer dApps like decentralized, crypto-based social media, peer-to-peer lending, and fair and secure elections playing the biggest role in determining the future winners.

Coinbase Announces Support for EOS

by
EOS

EOS

Coinbase has announced that from today, EOS will be supported by its custodial wallet. Coinbase users can now buy, sell, receive, convert, and store crypto on the platform as well as exchange it against fiat currencies that are supported. EOS is currently among the top cryptocurrencies, and it is ranked fifth largest in terms of circulation.

EOS Now Available on Coinbase Wallet

Coinbase tweeted that it is launching EOS on its website as well as in the Android and iOS Coinbase apps, so users will need to update their apps for them to be able to buy, send, sell, receive, convert, and store EOS. The American exchange consumer platform has indicated that more updates will be available once EOS is fully live.

According to Coinbase, EOS will be available in most jurisdictions where the exchange operates, except for the state of New York and the United Kingdom with the former having reportedly been strict towards crypto assets of all kinds. The firm has indicated that additional jurisdictions are likely to be added soon.

Coinbase Follows Customer Requests

According to the exchange, its customers have been requesting the company increase its offering and give customers more options for buying and selling various cryptocurrencies. It appears that the exchange that was initially against cryptos not linked to Bitcoin is finally agreeing to its customers’ needs, especially now that its profits are expected to decline in FY2019.

Until the start of the fourth quarter of 2018, the exchange had a strict listing policy, having added only five cryptocurrencies since its inception. However, Coinbase reviewed its Digital Assets Framework to enable it to expand on the number of crypto assets offered.

The support of Coinbase for EOS comes just before the June 1 announcement by Block.one, which is the company behind the EOS protocol.
