Pepsi blockchain trial

On Monday, May 6, media agency Mindshare said a Pepsi blockchain trial has been carried out and that it brought a 28% boost in supply chain efficiency. At the time of writing, PEP stock is down less than 1%.

Here’s what we know.

Pepsi Blockchain Trial: The Details

Today, Mindshare said the Pepsi blockchain trial was intended to see if blockchain could address “industry challenges” in programmatic advertising. The trial ran in March in the Asia Pacific region. Alongside Mindshare, the food and beverage company worked with MediaMath, a programmatic marketing technology firm, and Ad Science, a media firm Integral.

The campaign was also meant to improve transparency and stretch advertising budgets. And the trial proved to be a success, with PepsiCo’s director of consumer engagement saying “the results are encouraging.”

In the trial, the companies compared a controlled budget to measure how effective blockchain technology is, sources say. According to Mindshare, there was a 28% increase in supply chain efficiency in terms of the cost for viewable impressions, according to sources. The results also indicated efficiency increases “in running the campaign through smart contracts, versus one without.”

With the success of the Pepsi blockchain trial, the New York-area company plans to run more campaigns, this time “under different conditions to verify more hypotheses and measure overall impact.”

Stock Reacts

After the news was released, PEP stock slid into the red zone. According to Yahoo Finance, PEP stock is trading at $127.36, which puts it down 0.23% on the Nasdaq.

Takeaway

Deloitte Launches Demonstrational “Blockchain in a Box” Platform

by
Deloitte

Deloitte

Multinational consultancy firm Deloitte has announced the release of its “Blockchain in a Box” platform that hosts demonstrations and experiments of distributed ledger technology in business applications.

Blockchain in a Box Platform

According to the company’s press release on August 9, the development of the “Blockchain in a Box” BIAB platform was inspired by customer interest in understanding the potential of distributed ledger technology in real-life circumstances. Business start-ups find it hard communicating to stakeholders about the unique benefits of blockchain and therefore Deloitte will be looking to fill that gap with its BIAB platform. The BIAB platform is mobile-based and will make it easier for developers to demonstrate, prototype, and even share projects efficiently.

Commenting on the launch, the US blockchain leader at Deloitte, Linda Pawczuk, indicated that the “Blockchain in a Box” platform is a mobile and self-contained platform that has the ability to host blockchain-based solutions in the form of four compute nodes, three video displays, as well as networking components to enhance integration with external services such as cloud communication and storage.

Each compute node can be used with a secured digital card to allow the business to demonstrate and share projects quickly. This approach enables developers to have a tool for the creation and sharing of dApps with limited hardware.

Solving the Problem of Developing Proof-of-Concept

At the beginning of this year, Deloitte carried out a Global Blockchain Survey, which showed that most start-ups do struggle when it comes to where to get started in developing proofs-of-concept that leverage the exceptional features of blockchain technology.

>> Ripple Partnership: Santander Group Expands the Usage of One Pay FX

Pawczuk stated that with the platform, executives will no longer be asking questions about blockchain but rather a series of questions that reflect on the role distributed ledger technology can play in their organizations. She added that there is the misconception of blockchain being a tech solution when, in reality, it is a technology component that can enhance broader business applications as well as approaches.

Deloitte, along with other 20 firms including Fidelity and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), recently started supporting Startup Studio, an accelerator program that offers workshops to blockchain startups to enhance various skills.

Amazon Web Services Introduces Managed Blockchain to Everyone

by
Amazon Web Services

Amazon Web Services

Amazon has made it into the blockchain industry, and on April 30, the company announced that its subsidiary Amazon Web Services was launching its Amazon Managed Blockchain (AMB).

Hyperleger Fabric & Ethereum Frameworks

Amazon Web Services has said that its AMB is designed to allow companies and customers to easily create a blockchain network that is simple and scalable to manage and uses the Hyperledger and Ethereum open source frameworks.  The Hyperledger Fabric is a product of Linux foundation and IBM as part of the IBM Blockchain, which is a Performance-as-a-service. Ethereum is not yet supported, but there are plans to have it on board later this year.

Amazon Web Services has been in preview since last year, and now it will be available in Northern Virginia first before extending to the rest of the country next year.

Rahul Pathak, the Amazon Web Services General Manager for AMB, stated that the blockchain-as-a-service will enable most companies to easily create their blockchain networks at a low cost. This will be helpful in eliminating the need to install software, provide hardware configure network settings as well as creating and managing access control certificates.

Add Members to Your Network

The company indicated that with the Amazon Web Services’ customers can select their preferred framework and once they add members to the network they need to configure the member nodes so that they start processing transactions. The AMB does the rest by creating a network that can extend through various Amazon Web Services accounts while configuring the network, security, and software settings.

AMB has the capability of supporting numerous applications that run multiple transactions. Besides AMB, Amazon Web Services also provides customers with Amazon Quantum Ledger Database (QLDB) to help in performing additional analytics.

Already, communication giant AT&T Inc, food and beverage company Nestle, and Singapore Exchange Limited have implemented the AMB.

Why the uBUCK Pay App Offers So Much More Than Any Other Digital Wallet

by

uBUCK Pay

The digital wallet industry has grown exponentially in recent years, reaching $100 billion USD in 2017. Analysts expect growth to continue, reaching a whopping $250 billion by 2024, propelled by attractive discounts and enticing cashback offers.

One company that has created an impressive mobile wallet that offers a ton of great features is LiteLink Technologies Inc. (CSE:LLT) (OTC:LLNKF). LiteLink just announced the closed beta launch of its uBUCK Pay App, a digital wallet and payment solution that serves as a payment alternative for consumers and merchants.

But uBUCK Pay offers much more than any other digital payments platform.

The uBUCK platform will allow customers to make online purchases at supported bars, stores, and restaurants, and customers will also be able to withdraw cash at ATMs and send transfers around the world within seconds without having to pay any transfer fees. And now, following a strategic partnership with Datable Technology Corp. (TSXV:DAC) (OTC:TTMZF), the service gives customers the ability to earn rewards for payments and purchases made within the uBUCK Pay digital wallet or with their uBUCK Mastercard.

uBUCK Pay and Datable Integrated Loyalty Program

uBUCK will be integrating Datable’s loyalty and rewards program PLATFORM³ into its digital platform to reward customers for purchasing, viewing content, referring friends, sharing content via social media, and completing surveys.

Datable provides consumers with access to over 300 digital gift cards from leading retailers like Starbucks, Target, and Walmart. The partnership will also see uBUCK prepaid credit cards added as a prepaid cash card reward that consumers can purchase with their points on Datable’s client’s portals.

Serving Unbanked and Underbanked Communities

Another feature that sets uBUCK Pay apart from the competition is accessibility. Unlike other payment solutions, uBUCK Pay offers a distribution method that isn’t found elsewhere in the digital payment space, allowing uBUCK to serve the underbanked community in North America, which accounts for nearly six million Canadians and 32.6 million Americans.

To better serve this group, uBUCK has partnered with US prepaid platform PreWay, which gives customers the option to purchase uBUCK vouchers at roughly 7,000 convenience stores across the United States using cash.

Having the option to buy uBUCK vouchers in-store with cash will mean consumers don’t have to wait in long lineups to purchase items or pay bills. What’s more, loading up a prepaid Mastercard will allow customers to make online purchases, which otherwise wouldn’t be possible.

Moving forward, uBUCK will be rolling out its service to the Philippines, where 77% of the population is unbanked, and in Southeast Asia, where only 47% of the population have a bank account.

Bringing Payment Solutions to the eSports Industry

uBUCK is also catering to the burgeoning eSports gaming industry with its newly launched second brand, Streambucks, a secure, easy-to-use payment solution that is catered specifically to eGamers.

Streambucks will give uBUCK Tech the opportunity to sponsor eGaming tournaments and offer prize pools in the form of Streambucks. Streambucks can then be used to purchase products in the Streambucks marketplace, convert into US dollars to load a prepaid debit card, and send payments around the world for free.

Official Payment Sponsor of EGLX 2019

Days after revealing the launch of Streambucks, uBUCK announced that it has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Enthusiast Gaming Holdings (TSXV:EGLX) (OTCQB:EGHIF) to make Streambucks the official payment sponsor at the Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo (EGLX).

This is a very strategic move for uBUCK to gain access to its new target demographic, as EGLX is the largest video game expo in Canada, attracting roughly 55,000 attendees in 2018.

uBUCK will be engaging Enthusiast Gaming to create strategic advertising programs across its digital publisher network, which reaches over 75 million visitors across 85 gaming related websites monthly and 50 million monthly visitors from 900 gaming YouTube channels.

The partnership will give uBUCK access to a targeted eSports demographic through Enthusiast Gaming’s engaged network of gaming enthusiasts in order to help promote its platform of payment solutions and build brand awareness.

Offering Record-Breaking Transaction Speed

As mentioned, uBUCK Pay will allow users to send transfers instantaneously. This is because uBUCK Pay is the world’s first US dollar-backed stable token built on Waves, the world’s fastest blockchain platform.

The Waves network has set a blockchain speed record for maximum transactions per day. What’s more, Waves processed more transactions in a 24-hour period than any other open blockchain in existence. This means uBUCK customers are able to send and receive funds much faster than any competing digital wallets and payment transfer services.

Offering a Highly Secure Payment Solution

In this day and age, privacy is basically non-existent, meaning security is essential when it comes to protecting our funds. Decentralized apps like uBUCK Pay can enhance security, as well as speed up money management, transfer, and lending by eliminating middlemen.

This is because uBUCK runs on a P2P network of computers rather than a single server or a centralized cluster of servers. To ensure optimal security, uBUCK Pay offers multi-factor authentication, biometric and device verification, SSL encryption, and Mastercard SecureCode.

No Transfer Fees

Perhaps the most attractive feature for consumers is that uBUCK Pay has zero transfer fees, meaning anyone can send funds to family and friends around the globe without the regular hefty fee.

Anyone who has tried services like Western Union or PayPal know that these services often charge high fees for sending money out of the country. What’s more, these services can take three to five business days to send your funds.

With uBUCK Pay, customers can send transfers instantly all around the world without paying any transfer fees. All the recipient needs to do is sign up for the app, and the funds will be sent to them directly.

This is huge if you consider that an estimated $625 billion was sent in 2017 by migrants to their home countries, $148 billion of which came from the US alone.

Tech Mahindra Introduces Blockchain Solution for Finance and Insurance

by
Tech Mahindra

Tech Mahindra

Indian conglomerate Mahindra Group’s IT subsidiary, Tech Mahindra, has partnered with American tech company Adjoint. The company is set to launch blockchain use in insurance services and finance management solution.

Blockchain Solution for Financial and Insurance Services

On Monday, CommMEA reported that the solution, which is the first of its kind, will be a game-changer. Using the service will save clients up to $4 million for every $1 billion of financial management and banking relationships. Using blockchain in the insurance and finance sector will ensure that clients receive a seamless and trustworthy experience.

The report indicates that users of the Uplink solution will be able to validate the business case with their own data in a secure environment. It will also help in eliminating double data and out-of-order entries. This will give auditors access to the absolute record of transactions and help to ease compliance and reporting. It will transform data quality and empower users with the responsibility of having accurate data.

The solution, which is an open-source distributed ledger technology platform, will enhance financial compliance. It has a dedicated consensus mechanism and messaging protocol that will let users of the solution determine data to input to the DLT. According to Tech Mahindra, the solution will offer the required efficiency in solving real-world problems in the insurance and financial management sector.

Previous Mahindra Blockchain Initiatives

However, this is not the first time that Tech Mahindra has shown interest in being involved in blockchain technology. The subsidiary has been involved in several initiatives applying blockchain technology. For instance, at the beginning of May, the company announced its involvement in an anti-spam phone calls project. The project entailed relieving mobile phone customers of the nuisance calls by requiring providers to follow regulations set out by India’s Telecom Regulatory Authority.

Equally, back in April, the company announced its collaboration with Samsung. The company was seeking to enter the overseas blockchain space through the Samsung SDS blockchain platform called Nexledger. The companies expect to explore the customizable application of blockchain as per business needs.

by

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 04, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — LiteLink Technologies Inc. (“LiteLink”) (CSE:LLT)(FRA:C0B)(OTC:LLNKF), a key player in logistics platforms and payment solutions, is pleased to provide the following corporate update to inform shareholders about its current software developments and operations.

1SHIFT Marketing Update

The 1SHIFT Logistics platform has reached maturity and LiteLink has shifted its efforts to sales and marketing across North America. LiteLink has added an additional sales office in Montreal to increase its sales presence in Eastern Canada. In addition to physical sales offices, 1SHIFT is engaging in digital product marketing to maximize lead generation and sales with a focus on increasing efforts in Q3.

The initial focus is to provide 1SHIFT Logistics to carriers, brokers, and shippers across North America this year, followed by expansions into South America in early 2020. With the existing trade issues reducing overall global freight to the U.S., the need to further reduce operating costs in logistics is a bigger issue now than ever.

In addition to rolling out its 1SHIFT Logistics platform, LiteLink is working with Deloitte Canada to bring the technical experience to key client engagements.

1SHIFT Product Update

Beta testing of the product trials of 1SHIFT has been successful. The 1SHIFT Platform enables an ecosystem of shippers, 3PLs, carriers, and drivers to contract loads, track shipments in real-time, proactively manage errors and disputes for on-time deliveries and expedite payments to improve end-to-end efficiency.

After onboarding Inline Nurseries Inc. and completing customer trials with Peak Logistics, JMG Carriers and Playbook Logistics throughout the summer, the 1SHIFT user experience has been fully optimized. A major barrier for adoption in the logistics business is adopting new technology that requires training and takes time to implement. The newest version of 1SHIFT allows users to signup and use the platform in less than five minutes, removing this barrier.

The development of the 1SHIFT app is complete and can be downloaded and utilized by any transportation carrier, fleet, shipper or broker. The 1SHIFT app is available through the Apple Store and Google Play Store, as well as on any web platform.

The latest version of the 1SHIFT Logistics platform includes:

  • Fully automated dispatch to any fleet, carrier, or internally operated trucks. A full turnkey fleet management system.
  • Real-time Logistics problem management – real-time problems raised by drivers, dispatch, by the system are presented before or right when they happen without any delay via email or phone calls
  • Detention Fee Dispute Center – a bulletproof blockchain solution that collects records from multiple sources to reduce unwarranted detention fees
  • Integration to Enterprise Supply Chain & TMS Platforms such as SAP
  • Integration into government-regulated devices ELDs and IOT truck sensors
  • Remote driver problem handling – customer care can now log in and see the same problems users are seeing to resolve with a mirror view

1SHIFT leverages Amazon web service infrastructure using the latest logistics prediction algorithms and integrated mapping services to provide the most advanced visibility and management of freight and digitizes all supporting documentation for a fully paperless environment.

LiteLink is continuing to focus on improving the 1SHIFT customer experience by offering training in multiple languages and has implemented several improvements in customer care with real-time troubleshooting and online training videos.

Moving forward, LiteLink plans to release two major features for 1SHIFT before the end of this year that will effectively remove the manual work done today by logistics specialists. The addition of deep machine learning and predictive pricing is expected to set the Company apart.

uBUCK Update

uBUCK Technologies SEZC (“uBUCK”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of LiteLink Technologies, has been developing its digital payment and debit card platform by engaging additional card program managers and technology partners.

uBUCK has continued to build on its partnership with Datable Technology Corp. over the summer. The commercial relationship involves the integration of Datable’s loyalty and rewards program into uBUCK’s digital payment platform and the addition of the uBUCK prepaid credit card to Datable’s gift card offering.

Apart from enhancing its payments platform, uBUCK is also preparing for its first live commercial event with Enthusiast Gaming. The Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo takes place in Toronto in October 2019 and is expected to bring in over 55,000 attendees.

uBUCK’s Streambucks is the official payment sponsor of the event and will be the official digital wallet and remittance transfer partner for Enthusiast’s tournaments. New customers at this event will receive incentives for signing up and installing the uBUCK digital wallet on their mobile devices.

Website Update

In an effort to extend its reach to global logistics markets, LiteLink has fully revamped its 1SHIFT website and strengthened its branding to align with large enterprise product offerings. To check out the new website, visit https://1shiftlogistics.com/.

LiteLink has gained critical knowledge regarding its implementation and change-management framework. The Company has used this knowledge to further refine its processes and believes this learning experience will create a strong foundation for success moving forward.

The Company has also gained critical feedback on customer acquisition costs as well as anticipated sales cycles, which were longer than anticipated.

Near-Future Outlook for LiteLink

LiteLink focused primarily on developing growth partner relationships and signing on customers over the summer. The focus will remain the same throughout this year with the objective to acquire as many customers as possible across North America. LiteLink has several deals in the pipeline that are near maturity and its cash position remains strong.
